Science, coffee, cheese and nature addicted. Always with a pack of food and a coat in her backpack. She is trying to get used to the cold weather in São Paulo. Enjoy spending free time watching series on Netflix. Vanessa holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science with Emphasis on Molecular Biology and Technology and a teaching degree in Biological Science from University of São Paulo (USP), Ribeirão Preto. During her graduation, she used a microarray approach to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus susceptibility. After four years studying genomics, she decided to dwell into the world of transcriptomics. Therefore, she joined the CSBL in 2019 to start her PhD, where she works with transcriptomics and human viral infections. Her PhD study uses a System Biology approach, that uses networks to identify how genes could interact during several viral infections.
