Victoria is a Biochemist and holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Santiago de Chile. Her early research focused on the role of bacteria in cancer, and her later work has been dedicated to neurotropic viral infections, particularly human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). Beyond research, she has been actively involved in HIV-1 prevention, contributing to rapid diagnostic initiatives, participating in the national university laboratory network established to address the COVID-19 pandemic, and engaging with great dedication in science communication. Her current research focuses on transcriptomic landscapes to identify biological markers in PBMCs from individuals infected with DENV2, aiming to clarify the neuroinflammatory role of the virus.
